about

"the silencing" is based on a glass piece made by my friend Shannon. I knew it was a water related track so while I was on holiday I recorded the sounds of the Atlantic Ocean at Tybee Island beach in Georgia. The concept of the track is trying to find the silence in your mind. It can take a while to find that. "broken star" is based on a another piece Shannon attempted but than decidedto go forward with the original idea but she will return to it at some point. "try escape" is a wet basement dance party of sorts.

Words about the art from Shannon:

In the Depths (The Silencing)

For my working glass piece I decided to reinterpret an old oil painting of mine into glass. The title of the original paintings was In The Depths.

A figure is adrift. Suspended in a turbulent environment, safely ensconced in a life support suit. Isolated yet calm, like a deep sea diver.
My first working glass piece ( an erupting volcano) was about a rekindling of the creative drive after a period of inactivity. This piece is a prequel of sorts, representing the incubation period of an artistic idea. It's about looking inward. The silencing of the surrounding chaos and self-doubt that can smother the glowing ember of creative thoughts.

I've joined forces with BA (AKA pirogiChop) again for his interpretation of the visuals into sound. The track he created is called The Silencing, and fits better than I first realized. Recreating my old painting and trying to describe the nebulous ideas swirling under its surface was frustrating at times, but when I put the two titles together it was like the final piece of a jigsaw puzzle falling into place.

Although over the years with more free technology available pirogiChop has evolved into creating more original material and only using some samples from random sources ... more
